A Prayer for Reconciliation

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone” (Romans 12:18).

This past year has felt like it has been more divisive than ever. The divisions have spilled over from the world into the church. People have left bible study groups when some members of the group have been vocal supporters of a US presidential candidate. It looks like not all have grown to coexist with people who have different views. I come from a family where siblings have been so close, but when they are hurt even on probably small arguments, they don’t talk evet to each other. We need to heal those divides because the message of the Gospel is at stake. If we are part of the division and continue to be hurt or disappoint from the other part, we should go first to God and ask for His help. A forgiven person can forgive others, and we should all learn how to forgive, even ourselves. If 2020 was a year of division, lets work to make 2021 a year of reconciliation.

Let’s pray: Lord, past year has been a year with many questions and very deep emotional feelings coming to the surface. Help me and the body of Christ to push past every divisive thing and move to a place of reconciliation. Let the fruit of the Spirit be evident in my life as I seek to be a healer of broken and angry hearts. In your name I pray, Amen.
