The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD regretted that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him to his heart. So the LORD said, “I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD.
Genesis 6: 5-8
Sin did not stop once Adam and Eve left the Garden of Eden. In fact, it got worse. Most of people mentioned in the Bible did not love God and did things God did not want them to do. This made God sad. There was one man, however, who loved God and lived a life that honored the Lord. His name was Noah. When God made a decision to destroy all the sinful people by sending a flood, Noah and his family would be saved because of his faithfulness towards God. Sin is a serious matter with God. Those who do not turn to God will be lost forever, just like the people outside of the ark, but God promised life to us if we are IN Jesus. Just like Noah, when we see a rainbow we can remember that God loves us and keeps His promises! When you remember all the colors of the rainbow, remember that his love is colorful, his mercies reach everyone of us in our depth of self-isolation and sin-denial. Today is the right time to be in the ark with Jesus!
Let’s Pray: Dear Lord, we know we think and do what deserves punishment, just like the wicked people in Noah’s day, but we are so glad that You promised to forgive our sins if we believe in Jesus. Thank You, Lord for the beautiful rainbow and all its colors that remind us that You keep all Your promises. Amen
MEMORY VERSE:
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
