Why through the centuries people who read the Bible, read not the same thing?
Why they acted differently?
Why they found examples in the bible as models or to justify their actions?
These are some of my thoughts:
When we approach the Scriptures, our journey must begin and end with God rather than people. The Bible, God’s divine revelation, centers on His nature, will, and redemptive plan. Starting with God ensures that our reading is grounded in His character and purposes, not merely in human experience or understanding.
To start with God means to recognize His sovereignty and holiness. It frames our reading with reverence, acknowledging that the Scriptures are His words, meant to reveal His glory and guide us into a deeper relationship with Him. This approach shapes our hearts to seek His wisdom, rather than projecting our desires or biases onto the text. He becomes the center, the most important character and the life’s focus of those who want be His followers.
Ending our Bible reading with God keeps our focus on His ultimate authority. It reminds us that the Scriptures aim to draw us closer to Him, transforming us into His image. Our interpretations and applications should reflect His truth and love, not other human examples who speak in His name.
Focusing on God both at the start and the end of our scriptural journey cultivates a faithful and transformative engagement with the Bible. It aligns our hearts and minds with His divine narrative, ensuring that our lives are shaped by His eternal truth rather than transient human perspectives.
Start reading the Bible differently, and you will be a different person!
